Mike Knudson is an artist who has experience in various art forms but, for the last 30 years, has found a home in sculpture; mostly life-size cast bronze figures but also some "cold cast" pieces. He is a third generation artist. His grandmother worked in the greeting card industry in the 1920s. His mother was a portrait painter and taught Art.

Mike was an Art major at Luther College studying primarily under Orville Running and years later was commissioned by the college to sculpt Running's portrait bust in bronze. He also did post-graduate study at Bellevue University and Creighton University in the Omaha area.

After college, Mike went to seminary and became a Lutheran minister. Originally he thought the demands of parish ministry would rule out making art, but instead, he received strong encouragement to keep going. This first took the form of cartooning for church periodicals but soon led to bronze commissions. It happened fast!

In June 2023, Mike made the jump into retirement from ministry. Now he can breathe deeply and focus on Art.

Mike is open to discussing commissions.
